Baale Odan Otun, High Chief Babajide Durojaiye (Action) Gives Hope For St. Peter’s Anglican Primary School Pupils, Renovates Dilapidated Class Roof

   Residents of Odan Otun and Odan Ifelodun communities in Itele, Ota, have commended their traditional leaders following the successful renovation of a block of classrooms at St. Peter's Anglican Primary School, Odan Otun, in a community-driven initiative aimed at improving the learning environment for pupils.

The project was spearheaded by the Baale of Odan Otun, High Chief Babajide Abiola Durojaye, and the Baale of Odan Ifelodun, High Chief Kehinde Adeosun, in collaboration with members of both communities, demonstrating what stakeholders described as the impact of visionary grassroots leadership and collective responsibility.

VOA News gathered that the renovated classroom block now offers a more conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning, bringing renewed hope to pupils, teachers, and parents who have long desired improvements to the school’s infrastructure.

The development is particularly noteworthy as both Baales have spent just about one year in office. Within this relatively short period, they have earned widespread recognition for their commitment to community development, unity, and inclusive leadership.

In a chat with one of the residents of Odan Otun, Mr. Olanshile Adebayo, who spoke on the project, described the renovation as evidence that traditional institutions remain critical partners in grassroots development. According to them, the initiative reflects the determination of the two Baales to mobilize their people towards meaningful projects capable of improving the quality of life within their communities.

“Beyond the physical transformation of the school, the project has further strengthened the bond between the traditional leadership and the people, while encouraging a renewed culture of community participation in local development”.

In another interview with Mrs Adekola Remilekun, a parent whose child attends the school, she attributed the success of the initiative to the purposeful leadership of the Onitele of Itele, His Royal Majesty Oba Ademola Eletu, whose reign has continued to promote peace, unity, and development across Itele Kingdom. She noted that the monarch’s encouragement of community-based initiatives has inspired Baales and other traditional office holders to pursue projects that directly benefit the people.

The renovation, according to one of the Chiefs in Odan Otun, is to also complement the ongoing developmental agenda of the Ogun State Government under the leadership of Governor Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, whose administration has continued to prioritize educational development and infrastructural renewal across the state.
