Despite Plot To Topple His Chances, Yayi’s Guber Race Receives Boost As Barrister Abiodun Akinboyede’s AAMO Declares Massive Support

Despite plot to topple the chances of Ogun APC’s Gubernatorial Candidate, Senator Adeola Olamilekan Yayi, Ota Prince and Politician, Barrister Abiodun Akinboyede’s AAMO declares massive support for his candidacy.

Abiodun Akinboyede Movement Organization (AAMO), a grassroots movement comprising of indigenes, residents, youth groups, professional bodies, artisans, community development associations, traditional rulers and other stakeholders, during a townhall meeting held at the Ado-Odo/Ota local government secretariat on Wednesday, endorsed Senator Adeola Olamilekan Yayi’s candidacy in the build up to the 2027 gubernatorial election.

In his opening remark, founder of AAMO, Barrister Abiodun Akinboyede emphasized the need for citizens at the grassroots level to participate actively in governance, noting that sustainable development can only be achieved when the people are involved in decision-making processes.

Speaking on the theme of the gathering which he tagged, ‘The Impact of Grassroots In Governance’, he emphasized that governance is not built in isolation; while urging people to get involved.

“Today, we are not just holding a meeting, we are writing a history. Ogun West has waited patiently for its moment, and today is a declaration of that our voices, participation and unity matters”.

He lamented that for fifty years, the Yewa/Awori section of the senatorial district have not produced a governor and it was high time they had their own person who will be at the helms of affairs come 2027, while urging residents to remain united and committed to strengthening the link between government and the grassroots.

Leadership and Human Development Expert, Dr. Femi Bolaji identified voter apathy as one of the major challenges facing Nigeria’s democracy. According to him, ‘election rigging, lack of adequate voter education, and distrust in the electoral process discourage many eligible voters from participating in elections’.

He stressed the importance of proper civic education and urged residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and exercise their constitutional right to vote during elections.

Dr. Bolaji further noted that democracy thrives when citizens actively participate in governance and hold leaders accountable at all levels.

The All Progressives House of Representatives Candidate and Representative of Olota of Ota at the event, High Chief Olanrewaju Taofeeq Bashorun, popular as Larrybash, commended Barrister Akinboyede for conveying the town hall meeting, describing it as ‘people oriented dialogue’, while lauding the Ogun state Governor, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun for the opportunity given to Ogun West to succeed him.

Larrybash further urged electorates in Ado-Odo/Ota, Ogun West and Ogun State to support the candidacy of Senator Adeola Olamilekan Yayi is competent enough to handle the state’s affair, despite the need for equal representation and balanced rotation in the state.

Several other speakers at the event called on political leaders to be more responsive to the needs of the people, particularly at the grassroots level.

Community representatives also emphasized the importance of unity among various ethnic groups and professionals.
