Consesus Arrangement: Ota State Constituency 2 Leaders Laud Dapo Abiodun
Prominent political stakeholders and progressive leaders from the eight wards of the Ado-Odo Igbesa State Constituency have jointly expressed profound appreciation to the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, for what they described as his courageous and historic commitment to justice, fairness, and balanced political representation within the Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency.
Speaking under the umbrella of the Ado-Odo Igbesa and Agbara Progressive Leaders, the group commended the governor for taking deliberate steps to correct what they termed a longstanding political imbalance that has, over the years, sidelined the Ado-Odo Igbesa Agbara axis in the distribution of key elective positions.
According to the leaders, Governor Abiodun has demonstrated uncommon leadership and political maturity by aligning with the position of apex leaders on the need to zone the senatorial seat to the Ado-Odo Igbesa Agbara State Constituency. They noted that the decision represents a major milestone in the struggle for equity and inclusion, especially considering that since the return to democratic rule, the constituency has never produced a senator, while the Ota axis has consistently occupied the seat during the Awori political arrangement.
Describing the governor as “a symbol of justice, fairness, and progressive governance,” the leaders stated that his intervention has renewed hope among party faithful and constituents who have long yearned for equal political opportunities.
The group further applauded Governor Abiodun for endorsing Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the preferred gubernatorial candidate of the party, noting that the move reflects the governor’s desire to sustain progressive leadership and strengthen political stability across Ogun State.
While expressing support for the emerging consensus arrangements within the party, the leaders passionately appealed to the governor to ensure that all commitments made to aspirants and stakeholders affected by the arrangements are faithfully fulfilled.
They emphasized the importance of adequate compensation, inclusion, and continued political engagement for those making sacrifices in the collective interest of party unity.
In a strong call for peace and cooperation, the leaders urged all aspirants and political actors within the constituency to embrace sportsmanship, respect party decisions, and place the overall progress of the constituency above personal ambitions.
According to them, unity remains the strongest foundation for sustainable political success and development.
The group also appealed to the governor and party leadership not to overlook any section of the constituency in future political considerations, stressing that inclusiveness and fair representation must remain central to all elective appointments and party structures.
The statement was jointly endorsed by respected political leaders across the constituency, including Hon. Arimi Sunmola, Hon. Taiwo Akinosi, Hon. Lekan Popoola, Hon. Makinde Samson, Hon. Akeem Odunayo, Hon. Olusegun Idowu, Hon. Akande Soliu, Hon. Wasiu Adio, and Hon. Idowu Francis, all of whom reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, justice, and progressive ideals for the advancement of Ado-Odo Igbesa, Agbara, and Ogun State at large.
