HRH Oba Adio Maroof Alagbe Receives Staff Of Office As Elegushi Of Egushi, Ota

HRH Oba Adio Maroof Alagbe has formally received the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment as the Elegushi of Egushi-Otta Awori Kingdom, at a colourful ceremony attended by traditional rulers, government officials, chiefs and other dignitaries.

The Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Honourable Alhaji Wasiu Adewale, in his welcome address, highlighted the important role of traditional institutions in promoting peace and community development. He called for continued efforts to make Egushi-Ota a safe and conducive environment for local and foreign investors, noting that increased investment would create employment opportunities, particularly for youths.

He also urged residents to fulfil their civic responsibilities and support government efforts towards the development of the community.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, while presenting the Staff and instruments of Office to HRH Oba Adio Maroof Alagbe, congratulated him on the feat while urging him to use his office to better the lots of his subjects.

The Olota of Ota, Oba Professor Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege (Lanlege Ekun II, Arole Iganmode), congratulated Oba Adio Maroof Alagbe while stressing the importance of peace, cooperation and putting the interests of the people first. He also assured the new Elegushi of his support.

Representing Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, congratulated Oba Adio Maroof Alagbe and the people of Egushi-Otta. She delivered the Governor’s message, which emphasised the role of traditional institutions in maintaining peace, unity and supporting development, while urging the new Elegushi to work for the wellbeing of his people.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Adio Maroof Alagbe expressed appreciation to God, the Ogun State Government, traditional rulers and everyone who contributed to the success of the ceremony. He pledged to serve the people and work towards the peace and development of Egushi-Ota.

The event was well attended by the creme the la creme in the society, some of whom were; HRM Oba Sulaimon Raji Adeshina, the Oniba of Iba, HRM Oba Victore Taiwo Thomas-Fagbayi, the Onitigbo of Tigbo-ilu, amongst others.
