Ogun Lawmakers Endorse Tinubu for 2027, Back Yayi’s Governorship Bid, Support Gov. Abiodun’s Next Move

Twenty members of the Ogun State House of Assembly have reaffirmed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid in 2027, citing his economic reforms and infrastructural strides across the country.

The lawmakers, described as progressive members of the Assembly, said their position aligns with the earlier endorsement by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, noting that the President’s leadership has brought significant progress in economic stabilization and national development.

This was revealed today at a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat, Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.

While addressing journalists, the majority leader of the House, Hon. Yusuf Sherif Abiodun, representing Ado Odo/Ota 1, who spoke on behalf of the other lawmakers, said President Tinubu’s administration has recorded notable achievements in fiscal reforms and road construction projects connecting major economic corridors nationwide, which they said demonstrate his commitment to repositioning Nigeria’s economy.

In attendance included the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Bolanle Ajayi,representing Yewa South State Constituency, Majority leader, Hon. Yusuf Sherif, representing Ado Odo/Ota 1, Hon. Wahab Abiodun Egungbohun, representing Yewa North 1 State Constituency, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, representing Ifo 1 State Constituency, Hon. Bisi Oyedele, representing Ipokia/Idiroko State Constituency, Hon. Adegoke, Awoso, representing Yewa North (II) State Constituency, Hon. Jemili Akingbade, representing Imeko Afon State Constituency.

Others were, Chief Whip, Hon. Omolola Bakre, representing Ijebu Ode, Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Tunde Tella, Yusuf Amosun, representing Ewekoro state Constituency, Hon. Salami Fatiu representing Ifo 2, Hon. Odunuga Kaka, representing Ijebu Igbo North, Hon. Soneye Damilola, representing Obafemi Owode, Hon. Lamidi Musefiu, representing Odo Ota 2, Hon. Ayodele Wasiu, representing Abeokuta South (II), Hon. Kunle Sobukanla, representing,representing Ikenne State Constituency amongst others.

The lawmakers also declared their support for the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (popularly known as Yayi), describing him as an experienced legislator with a track record of competence, diligence, and dedication to public service.

They described Senator Adeola’s contributions in the National Assembly, including his leadership roles in key committees, advocacy for developmental projects, and empowerment initiatives across Ogun State and beyond.

The lawmakers added that Senator Adeola’s experience in governance positions him to further advance the state’s development agenda.

They noted that Abiodun’s executive experience and understanding of governance remain valuable assets, saying that his leadership has delivered significant developmental strides in the state.

The lawmakers, therefore, expressed their commitment to the ideals of the APC, pledging continued support for leaders whose vision and track record align with the aspirations of the people of Ogun State and Nigeria.
