A magistrate court has reportedly sentenced a woman, identified as Jennifer, to either pay a fine of ₦450,000 or serve a seven-year jail term after she allegedly collected transportation money from a man but failed to fulfil her promise to visit him.
The case, which has stirred heated discussions online, surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) alongside a video showing Jennifer in the courtroom.
According to reports, the complainant, Emmanuel, sent her money for transportation with a mutual agreement that she would visit his residence. However, Jennifer allegedly diverted the funds and failed to show up.
Feeling deceived, Emmanuel filed a case against her, which culminated in the controversial court ruling, giving her the option of paying ₦450,000 or serving a seven-year imprisonment term.
