Opinion: Sex Is Not Sexually Transmitted – Dpsychologist

A Dpsychologist, Dr. Olumide Emmanuel have turned to his social media account to express his opinion about wealth not being sexually transmitted.

In his words, “Ladies, if you are going to tell men they are beneath your level because they do not have money, at least be honest about whose money is creating the lifestyle you are using to establish that level.

There is nothing wrong with dating a wealthy man. Enjoying what your partner provides is not a crime, and nobody should shame you for it. The problem is when you start wearing somebody else’s wealth as though it is evidence of your own financial achievement.

You are driving his car, living in his house, travelling with his money and enjoying a lifestyle his income created, then looking at a man who is still struggling to build himself and saying he is beneath you.

Beneath you based on what?

If the relationship ended tomorrow, what would remain that is actually yours?

Your education, your career, your business, your savings, your investments, your property and your ability to generate income are yours. Your boyfriend’s bank account is not.

This is where some of the “I am above his level” talk becomes ridiculous. A man can be broke and still be building his way out of it. A woman can have access to a very wealthy man and still have little personal wealth of her own. Financially, those two people may have far more in common than she wants to admit.

The fact that someone wealthy chooses to spend money on you changes your lifestyle. It does not automatically change your financial position.

This applies to men too. A man dating a wealthy woman does not become wealthy simply because he drives her car and enjoys her money. Access is not ownership.

So have your standards. Date whoever you want. Reject whoever you want. Nobody is entitled to your relationship.

Just do not confuse being connected to wealth with creating wealth.

If you want to tell a struggling man that he is beneath your financial level, make sure you actually have a financial level of your own.

Because wealth is not sexually transmitted”.
